Tuesday, April 3rd. Prague-Vienna. We left our Airbnb at 10 to catch our 10:51 train. It was good that we left early because there was heavy traffic. It took us twice as long to get to the train station.
When we arrived at the station, we first changed the Czech money into Euro. Then we tried to look for the platform number, but it has yet to be announced. So we waited.
When the platform was finally announced, we headed straight there and we waited for the train. Our carriage was supposed to be at the front of the train but we weren’t sure where to wait. We could have waited in the middle but Sean said for us to just choose one end.
We picked the wrong end. When the train arrived, we walked from one end to the other end. Getting on was easy. I took the car seat out of the stroller and carried it on the train while Sean folded the stroller and carried that on the train.
Our carriage was the children’s carriage. There were lots of kids around. But we had reserved three seats so we were able to leave Arthur in his car seat.
Even though we only had to pay for two tickets, we decided to reserve an extra seat for our comfort. The ticket and seat reservations were separate so this was easy to do.
Our seats were in the two-by-two facing each other. No one reserved the fourth seat, so we had the extra seat to ourselves.
The journey was straight forward. Arthur was not fussy. He slept for an hour and a half during our 4-hour journey. He could have probably slept longer but there were lots of kids around and they were making some noise.
Right before we pulled into Vienna, the train stopped for at least 15 minutes. There was a technical problem. When it finally started moving again, the conductor said that everyone had to get off at this station and those who were continuing on to Graz would have to change to another train because this train was no longer suitable for passengers.
I’m glad the problem did not arise until we got to our destination as it would have been a hassle if we had to get on a different train.
Anyhow, nothing much to talk about on this journey. I think we got better at traveling. Or maybe we just got lucky today.
