The rainy days

Monday, May 14th. Nice. This is going to be a short entry. It rained these past two days. We stayed home today. Yesterday, we went out for a short walk and to grab something to eat, and we came back home when the rain got more intense. It wasn’t really what we expected from our stay here, but it became as such. Glad we went to Monaco on Saturday when the weather was good.

Yesterday, we started our day by walking along the Promenade.

There were not a lot of people walking around. The wind was blowing quite hard, and it was a cold day. As you can see, the sky was gloomy. It was about to rain.

We had planned to head down to Old Town. The stroller had a rain cover, but we totally forgot to bring an umbrella.

It started raining. We kept on walking even though it was drizzling. It wasn’t that bad yet.

But then, Arthur got cranky and wanted to be taken out of the stroller. We took him out of the stroller and I wore him on the carrier. I covered him with a jacket. The jacket helped with the light rain.

When the rain started to pick up, we found a building where we could take shelter. It was like a covered passageway between the casino and a restaurant.

We debated if we should make a pit stop at a restaurant to wait out the rain. Sean asked if the restaurant next to us had a table for two.

They were full and could not accommodate us.

We started searching for a nearby restaurant on TripAdvisor. We found one that was only a block and a half away. But it started to rain quite hard. We wouldn’t be able to walk out like that. So we waited another 10 minutes.

Then, Arthur got sleepy. I fed him while standing up. Yup! First time ever! It worked out well, actually. Afterwards, Sean put him to sleep on the car seat. It was turning out to be a really frustrating day. I wanted to go home and just watch a movie all day.

The rain subsided for a bit. We tried to brave it and made our way to the restaurant.

It was closed.

We walked down to another restaurant, half a block away. Sean went in to ask if the kitchen was open. I came in with the stroller. They looked at us and said yes.

I had seafood spaghetti and Sean had seafood risotto. The clams and mussels were so good!

After lunch, we tried to continue with our original plan of going to Old Town. It was fine when we got out of the restaurant. But two blocks later, the rain started again.

We found shelter.

And I told Sean that we should just go home and come back out the next day. Sean agreed and we headed home.

That was our Sunday!

This morning, we looked out and we saw the rain. Unfortunately, we both couldn’t decide whether or not we should go out. As a result, we stayed home the whole day.

Did I regret it? Not really. Even if we ended up walking around Old Town, it wouldn’t really be lively. Even the beach didn’t look like the vibrant French Riviera we saw a couple of days ago. It was a good day to stay home and watch movies.

Hope the weather is better in Avignon.
