Friday, March 16th. Tallinn-Riga. We had planned to wake up at 8:30 to catch our 11:30 bus to Riga but Arthur woke up at 7 and did not want to go back to sleep. So we ended up waking up much earlier than we expected. Rather than fighting it, we decided to take our time getting ready. We made breakfast, cleaned the dishes, packed our things, and made sure we didn’t leave anything behind.
Arthur fell asleep around 9am and we let him sleep until 10am when we had to wake him to dress him up for the cold.
We left the apartment around 10:30 and we called an Uber. Long story short, we ended up at the bus station at 11:10. We went straight to the platform and found that the bus had started boarding. We joined the queue, showed the bus conductor our tickets, dropped off our backpacks and the stroller to be stored away, and boarded the bus with Arthur, his car seat, and the diaper bag. Another bus officer checked our passports and tickets when we got on the bus.
When we booked the bus tickets two months ago, we had chosen to book the last row for the purpose of privacy. We paid for four seats and this turned out great because we had lots of space.

The bus was super nice. There were personal entertainment systems in each seat, a clean toilet on board, and free coffee and hot water. The four-hour journey did not seem long at all.

When we left Tallinn, Arthur was fully awake. At some point, though, he fell asleep. I took advantage of this and tried to sleep as well. It kind of worked but not really.
The bus had a very large window for us to enjoy the countryside scenery.
Throughout the ride, we had fed Arthur twice and changed his diaper twice. He slept for about 2 hours on the bus.
When we arrived in Riga, we used Taxify to call for a taxi. The ride to the Airbnb only took less than 10 minutes, and once we entered the apartment, we dropped off our things and went out again to get groceries.
The location of the Airbnb was right in the center of Old Town. On the way to the supermarket, we passed by Riga Cathedral and The Three Brothers.

The groceries did not take long. Arthur slept throughout our short outing. We even stopped by for a quick takeaway food at Nathan’s.

When we came back to the apartment, we decided to call it a day. The apartment was not as nice as the one in Tallinn but it was all right. It had the essential things.
Around 7:30, while changing Arthur’s diaper, he started crying and screaming. We didn’t quite know what caused it, but he looked and sounded like he was in pain. We thought it must be some trapped gas. Sure enough, he let out some wind and around 8:10, he was finally calm.
I tried to put him to sleep and he finally fell asleep around 9. Sean and I were also exhausted and we also went to bed.
